No Reason For Ignorance of Spiritual Gifts in the Church

Do you know the gifts of the Spirit? Which Ones Do You See Manifest in Your Life?

Don't be discouraged if you don't know or understand much about spiritual gifts. I've noticed that most Christians are not taught much or even if they are taught on spiritual gifts it is by someone that has only experienced their own ability of teaching.  So the teacher especially in the baptist church is not very accustomed to understanding gifts like  healing, miracles, prophecy and tongues.  So you end up getting opinion exalted over the Word of God which is in fact iniquity and a complete mess.

We are told to seek the greater gifts.

1 Corinthians 12:31 KJV
But covet earnestly the best gifts: and yet shew I unto you a more excellent way.

gift defined here is:

G5486 χάρισμα charisma (cha'-riyz-ma) n.
1. a (divine) gratuity, i.e. a kindness, pardon or rescue (from danger or passion).
2. (specially) a gracious bestowment (spiritual).
3. (subjectively) religious qualification.
4. (objectively) miraculous faculty.

Many of us think of the spiritual gifts as simply a gift but it is more than that.  It is a gift that has an accompanying ability.  The ability must be developed.  I have seen many healings, but I had to have some direction on how to walk that out with confidence.  The word says believers will lay hands on the sick and the sick will recover.  So that much I could just try out through the word. But sometimes it is good to hear what people that have been walking in the spiritual gifts of healing miracles and observe how they pray and why they trust this God given gift.  It helps in believing in the heart that God's promises are true and by the power of the Holy Spirit we can boldly minister to people and share the gospel with them also.

1 Corinthians 12:8-10 KJV
For to one is given by the Spirit the word of wisdom; to another the word of knowledge by the
same Spirit;
To another faith by the same Spirit; to another the gifts of healing by the same Spirit;
To another the working of miracles; to another prophecy; to another discerning of spirits; to
another divers kinds of tongues; to another the interpretation of tongues:

Romans 12:6-8
Having then gifts differing according to the grace that is given to us, whether prophecy, let us

prophesy according to the proportion of faith;
Or ministry, let us wait on our ministering: or he that teacheth, on teaching;
Or he that exhorteth, on exhortation: he that giveth, let him do it with simplicity; he that
ruleth, with diligence; he that sheweth mercy, with cheerfulness.

We use our gifts in love or we are not using them properly the bible seems to indicate:

1 Corinthians 13:1-3
Though I speak with the tongues of men and of angels, and have not charity, I am become as
sounding brass, or a tinkling cymbal.
And though I have the gift of prophecy, and understand all mysteries, and all knowledge; and
though I have all faith, so that I could remove mountains, and have not charity, I am nothing.
And though I bestow all my goods to feed the poor, and though I give my body to be burned, and have not charity, it profiteth me nothing.

Which Covenant Was Jesus Under Before Dying on the Cross?

The answer is the Old Covenant. Galatians 4:4 KJV But when the fulness of the time was come, God sent forth his Son, made of a woman, made under the law, Jesus was born under the law and was sent only to the lost sheep of Israel. Matthew 15:24 KJV But he answered and said, I am not sent but unto the lost sheep of the house of Israel. Because Jesus lived under the covenant of law, His words line up with that covenant as He spoke to the Jews. Under the old covenant the only blood ever shed for people was animal blood which had no power to forgive sins or perfect the believer before God. (Heb. 7:19; 9:9; 10:1-4; 11:40) Animal's blood could only cover/atone for sin until the Lamb of God would come and take away the sin of the world and remove it as far as the east is from the west and remember it no more. John 1:29 KJV The next day John seeth Jesus coming unto him, and saith, Behold the Lamb of God, which taketh away the sin of the world. If you are a true believer the...

The Tongue

James 3:1-11 KJV  1 My brethren, be not many masters, knowing that we shall receive the greater condemnation. 2 For in many things we offend all. If any man offend not in word, the same is a perfect man, and able also to bridle the whole body. 3 Behold, we put bits in the horses' mouths, that they may obey us; and we turn about their whole body. 4 Behold also the ships, which though they be so great, and are driven of fierce winds, yet are they turned about with a very small helm, whithersoever the governor listeth. 5 Even so the tongue is a little member, and boasteth great things. Behold, how great a matter a little fire kindleth! 6 And the tongue is a fire, a world of iniquity: so is the tongue among our members, that it defileth the whole body, and setteth on fire the course of nature; and it is set on fire of hell. 7 For every kind of beasts, and of birds, and of serpents, and of things in the sea, is tamed, and hath been tamed of mankind: 8 But the tongue can no man...

The Ways of Man That Seem Right: Twisting Scripture to Fit Man's Doctrine

1 John 1:9 KJV  I see deception in the translation of 1 John 1:9 verse similarly to that of Hebrews 10:25 KJV. The meaning that people come up with is often viewed as godly and seems right.  But  assigning a godly meaning to a bible verse doesn't make that explanation true.  Example:  (Hebrews 10:25 our need to "go to church" and 1 John 1:9 some flavor of asking God for forgiveness and some would say our not needing to ask God for foregiveness) So these explanations become part of a doctrine which props up man's needs for the church building and that building's organization. Example:  (Hebrews 10:25 used to guilt people into coming to that specific church building every Sunday AND 1 John 1:9 telling people either they never need to confess sin OR that they have to specifically track each sin and confess each one). A double minded man is unstable in ALL his ways.  Why is truth so important?  Believing a lie causes a supernatural sp...
