At 27:33 in this video I really love what Jim Richards is saying.  He says: "Never ask God to do that which is already given through Jesus; never ask God to do that which He tells you to do.  When we ask God what His Word says He has already done in Jesus..It is not a prayer of faith..It is a declaration of doubt."

We know that Jesus accomplished what He came to do in his earthly ministry 2000 years ago and that he said "It is finished."  What is it that is finished?  The work He came to do so that humankind could have the opportunity to be reconciled back to God.  So that we could then receive the free gift of the Holy Spirit and so that we can now be equipped to co-labor with Jesus on this earth. So now that Jesus has accomplished what He came to do it is time we do the things we can to grow in God's love and abide in Jesus so that we can be a light to the lost and even to confused double minded Christian believers. There is much to do but we should first rest in Jesus and get to know the love of God and experience God's love in prayer in the secret place.  When we do that we can naturally bear fruit and show love to others and be a light to the world not as unbelievers do in their efforts but as God has us to do by abiding in Him. So our work is to rest in Him and the fruit
