In my estimation it seems that most Christians believe that all our sins are forgiven by the blood of Jesus. There is also a contrary teaching prevalent within most denominations that we must daily go to God to ask for forgiveness of our sins in order to be forgiven and be "right with God" by using one scripture (1 John 1:9).
Do you see a conflict with these two beliefs? If you believe that you are not right with God unless you are confessed up then you must also make certain that you do not forget to ask forgiveness of every sin you commit. So then comes the question you must ask is:
What is sin? Anything not of faith is sin.
Romans 14:23 KJV And he that doubteth is damned if he eat, because he eateth not of faith: for whatsoever is not of faith is sin.
So then the good news is no longer so good because you need to work very hard to keep up with all your sins in order that you can confess them and ask for forgiveness (even though you also believe that you've already been forgiven....or something like that).
This logical path we are exploring now brings another question. If I sin am I automatically unforgiven? Do I go back and forth between forgiven and not forgiven each time I do something not of faith? What a miserable time it would be to be a Christian if these things were true.
Scripture points to salvation by grace not by works. When you believe what God says in His word you can be set free from this belief that you must continuously go to God to ask for forgiveness for each sin you commit in order to remain "right with God." You are right with God if you are a believer in Jesus Christ and have trusted that His blood sacrifice covers all your sin (past, present and future). You can rest in Jesus and be thankful for His grace and mercy upon the saints.
Ephesians 1:13 KJV
In whom ye also trusted, after that ye heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation: in whom also after that ye believed, ye were sealed with that holy Spirit of promise,
Ephesians 2:8-9 KJV
For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God:
Not of works, lest any man should boast.
