Healing The Sick

Do you believe the bible is literally true?  I do so when I read Mark 16 for the first time I was kind of thinking, well what does all that mean for me?  I did not know so I just kept reading and did not think too much more about it.

Let's see what Jesus said and then ask some questions:

Mark 16:15-18 KJV
And he said unto them, Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature.
He that believeth and is baptized shall be saved; but he that believeth not shall be damned.
And these signs shall follow them that believe; In my name shall they cast out devils; they shall speak with new tongues;
They shall take up serpents; and if they drink any deadly thing, it shall not hurt them; they shall lay hands on the sick, and they shall recover.

So questions and my answers about almost three years ago concerning the above verses were the following:

Do I believe this is the true word of God?  Yes
Am I a believer? Yes
If I am a believer then why do none of these signs follow me? Not sure
How can I figure out if these signs that follow believers are still in play for today?  Try and lay hands on someone and see if God heals them

Long story short is God lead me to have an interest in praying for people for healing.  I asked God to make a situation with a stranger that I could pray for and for certain know that they were injured and then healed on the spot.  Two days after that prayer God made that situation evident for me.  I prayed for a guy I did not know that was walking on a cane and after a few short commands for his ankle to be healed it was.  He walked away carrying the cane he had been limping with.  No limp and he was a happy man and it turns out he was already a believer in Jesus.

If you are interested in praying for people in Jesus name to see healing pray for God to help you understand how you should go about doing that.  One thing I find is very helpful when approaching strangers is to say to them something like, "I pray for people and God heals them.  I believe if I pray for you God will heal you now.  Can I pray for you?"  This is putting it all out there and activating both your faith and theirs.  Usually people say yes and usually they are healed.

Which Covenant Was Jesus Under Before Dying on the Cross?

The answer is the Old Covenant. Galatians 4:4 KJV But when the fulness of the time was come, God sent forth his Son, made of a woman, made under the law, Jesus was born under the law and was sent only to the lost sheep of Israel. Matthew 15:24 KJV But he answered and said, I am not sent but unto the lost sheep of the house of Israel. Because Jesus lived under the covenant of law, His words line up with that covenant as He spoke to the Jews. Under the old covenant the only blood ever shed for people was animal blood which had no power to forgive sins or perfect the believer before God. (Heb. 7:19; 9:9; 10:1-4; 11:40) Animal's blood could only cover/atone for sin until the Lamb of God would come and take away the sin of the world and remove it as far as the east is from the west and remember it no more. John 1:29 KJV The next day John seeth Jesus coming unto him, and saith, Behold the Lamb of God, which taketh away the sin of the world. If you are a true believer the...

The Tongue

James 3:1-11 KJV  1 My brethren, be not many masters, knowing that we shall receive the greater condemnation. 2 For in many things we offend all. If any man offend not in word, the same is a perfect man, and able also to bridle the whole body. 3 Behold, we put bits in the horses' mouths, that they may obey us; and we turn about their whole body. 4 Behold also the ships, which though they be so great, and are driven of fierce winds, yet are they turned about with a very small helm, whithersoever the governor listeth. 5 Even so the tongue is a little member, and boasteth great things. Behold, how great a matter a little fire kindleth! 6 And the tongue is a fire, a world of iniquity: so is the tongue among our members, that it defileth the whole body, and setteth on fire the course of nature; and it is set on fire of hell. 7 For every kind of beasts, and of birds, and of serpents, and of things in the sea, is tamed, and hath been tamed of mankind: 8 But the tongue can no man...

The Ways of Man That Seem Right: Twisting Scripture to Fit Man's Doctrine

1 John 1:9 KJV  I see deception in the translation of 1 John 1:9 verse similarly to that of Hebrews 10:25 KJV. The meaning that people come up with is often viewed as godly and seems right.  But  assigning a godly meaning to a bible verse doesn't make that explanation true.  Example:  (Hebrews 10:25 our need to "go to church" and 1 John 1:9 some flavor of asking God for forgiveness and some would say our not needing to ask God for foregiveness) So these explanations become part of a doctrine which props up man's needs for the church building and that building's organization. Example:  (Hebrews 10:25 used to guilt people into coming to that specific church building every Sunday AND 1 John 1:9 telling people either they never need to confess sin OR that they have to specifically track each sin and confess each one). A double minded man is unstable in ALL his ways.  Why is truth so important?  Believing a lie causes a supernatural sp...
