Healing The Sick

Do you believe the bible is literally true?  I do so when I read Mark 16 for the first time I was kind of thinking, well what does all that mean for me?  I did not know so I just kept reading and did not think too much more about it.

Let's see what Jesus said and then ask some questions:

Mark 16:15-18 KJV
And he said unto them, Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature.
He that believeth and is baptized shall be saved; but he that believeth not shall be damned.
And these signs shall follow them that believe; In my name shall they cast out devils; they shall speak with new tongues;
They shall take up serpents; and if they drink any deadly thing, it shall not hurt them; they shall lay hands on the sick, and they shall recover.

So questions and my answers about almost three years ago concerning the above verses were the following:

Do I believe this is the true word of God?  Yes
Am I a believer? Yes
If I am a believer then why do none of these signs follow me? Not sure
How can I figure out if these signs that follow believers are still in play for today?  Try and lay hands on someone and see if God heals them

Long story short is God lead me to have an interest in praying for people for healing.  I asked God to make a situation with a stranger that I could pray for and for certain know that they were injured and then healed on the spot.  Two days after that prayer God made that situation evident for me.  I prayed for a guy I did not know that was walking on a cane and after a few short commands for his ankle to be healed it was.  He walked away carrying the cane he had been limping with.  No limp and he was a happy man and it turns out he was already a believer in Jesus.

If you are interested in praying for people in Jesus name to see healing pray for God to help you understand how you should go about doing that.  One thing I find is very helpful when approaching strangers is to say to them something like, "I pray for people and God heals them.  I believe if I pray for you God will heal you now.  Can I pray for you?"  This is putting it all out there and activating both your faith and theirs.  Usually people say yes and usually they are healed.

Wisdom, Correction, Obedience, Growing in Jesus Christ

Proverbs 3:11 KJV My son, despise not the chastening of the LORD; neither be weary of his correction: Proverbs 15:9-11 KJV The way of the wicked is an abomination unto the LORD: but he loveth him that followeth after righteousness. Correction is grievous unto him that forsaketh the way: and he that hateth reproof shall die. Hell and destruction are before the LORD: how much more then the hearts of the children of men? Proverbs 23:12-13 KJV Apply thine heart unto instruction, and thine ears to the words of knowledge. Withhold not correction from the child: for if thou beatest him with the rod, he shall not die. Proverbs 11:24-25 KJV There is that scattereth, and yet increaseth; and there is that withholdeth more than is meet, but it tendeth to poverty. The liberal soul shall be made fat: and he that watereth shall be watered also himself. Proverbs 21:13 KJV Whoso stoppeth his ears at the cry of the poor, he also shall cry himself, but shall not be heard. Psalms 37...

Does a Christian Need to Daily Ask God for Forgiveness?

In my estimation it seems that most Christians believe that all our sins are forgiven by the blood of Jesus. There is also a contrary teaching prevalent within most denominations that we must daily go to God to ask for forgiveness of our sins in order to be forgiven and be "right with God" by using one scripture (1 John 1:9). Do you see a conflict with these two beliefs? If you believe that you are not right with God unless you are confessed up then you must also make certain that you do not forget to ask forgiveness of every sin you commit.  So then comes the question you must ask is: What is sin?   Anything not of faith is sin. Romans 14:23 KJV And he that doubteth is damned if he eat, because he eateth not of faith: for whatsoever is not of faith is sin. So then the good news is no longer so good because  you need to work very hard to keep up with all your sins in order that you can confess them and ask for forgiveness (even though you also believe that you...

Which Covenant Was Jesus Under Before Dying on the Cross?

The answer is the Old Covenant. Galatians 4:4 KJV But when the fulness of the time was come, God sent forth his Son, made of a woman, made under the law, Jesus was born under the law and was sent only to the lost sheep of Israel. Matthew 15:24 KJV But he answered and said, I am not sent but unto the lost sheep of the house of Israel. Because Jesus lived under the covenant of law, His words line up with that covenant as He spoke to the Jews. Under the old covenant the only blood ever shed for people was animal blood which had no power to forgive sins or perfect the believer before God. (Heb. 7:19; 9:9; 10:1-4; 11:40) Animal's blood could only cover/atone for sin until the Lamb of God would come and take away the sin of the world and remove it as far as the east is from the west and remember it no more. John 1:29 KJV The next day John seeth Jesus coming unto him, and saith, Behold the Lamb of God, which taketh away the sin of the world. If you are a true believer the...
